The Street Division of the Public Works Department is responsible for planning, coordination and direction of operations including snow and ice removal, shoulder repair, leaf and brush removal, installation and maintenance of traffic and street name signs, pothole patching, street sweeping, and safety and health standards.

2008 Brush Schedule

The Village of Rantoul will provide a scheduled, once per month collection of curbside brush beginning on April 7, 2008 and continue through January 9, 2009. Brush pickup will occur beginning on the Monday during the first full week of the month. If Monday is a holiday, the service will be on Tuesday. There is no scheduled brush pickup during February and March.

To ensure timely pickup, residents must have any brush stacked at the curbside no later than 7:00 AM on the Monday morning of the scheduled service. Any brush placed out after that time may not get picked up in a timely manner.

Brush should be stacked at the curbside with branches laying in the same direction. Do not put branches into the street, gutters, or block sidewalks. The Street Division will not pick up garbage, old furniture, used lumber or other junk. Disposal of these items are the responsibility of the owner or tenant.

Wood Chips for yard landscaping will be available for public pickup and use at a site located on Cuppernell Street.

• Branches need to be placed in the same direction.
• Logs need to be stacked separately from brush.
• Do not place brush in the street, gutters or block the sidewalk.
• Vehicles should not be parked near the brush, as this blocks
   accessing the piles.
• Tree removals by a contractor for a homeowner are to be disposed of
   by the contractor.
