Our Police Department
provides a critical service to our citizens
and visitors by protecting life and property
as well as performing a myriad of law enforcement
tasks from be assigned to special details and
investigations to problem-solving, deterring
criminal activity, preparing cases for trial
and appearing in court. The work of a Village
of Rantoul Police Officer is interesting and
varied and essential to the safety, security
and growth of our community!
We are now accepting
applications to establish an eligibility list
for the position of Police Officer. To meet
minimum qualifications applicants must be 21
to 34 years of age, possess a high school diploma
or GED equivalent, be in excellent physical
condition with eyesight of or corrected to 20/20
in each eye, and have no felony convictions.
To be placed upon
the eligibility list applicants must successfully
complete a written aptitude test, a physical
agility test, a preliminary background examination
and an interview session with the Police and
Fire Commission. Before appointment as a police
officer, candidates will further need to pass
a more thorough background investigation, a
psychological and medical examination and a
drug screen.
The aptitude
and physical agility examinations will be conducted
on Saturday, May 22, 2010, beginning at 8:00
am. Applicants will meet at the Rantoul
Business Center located at 601 S. Century Blvd.
in Rantoul. Applicants will receive further
information prior to the testing date.
The Village of Rantoul
offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits
package. The starting hourly salary, as of May
1, 2010, is $22.97 per hour. Police officers
must reside within 20 miles of the Village city
limits no later than six months after the completion
of the probationary period.
